Six places shaped photos beat rectangles
- 01 for profile pics
A circle crop for an avatar without browser zoom
Most platforms display avatars in a circle but accept a square upload. Pre-crop to circle here with a transparent PNG; you control which part of the photo lands where, instead of accepting whatever automatic crop the platform decides. Avatar looks intentional, not lucky.
- 02 for journals
An arch-cropped portrait for a vintage album spread
Edwardian-era family albums used arch-shaped portrait windows — tall rectangle with a rounded top. Run your portrait through Arch with a paper background and the photo immediately reads as 'old album'. Glue onto a kraft journal page; the spread tells you where you are in time.
- 03 for valentines
A heart-cropped photo for the inside of a card
Every Valentine's Day card needs a photo. Run a couple shot through Heart with a soft cream background, print on cardstock, glue inside a folded card. Same effort as a generic heart-shaped sticker; ten times more personal.
- 04 for kids
Star-cropped photos for a kid's wall display
Wall display of school year photos: each year's portrait in a Star with a different paper backdrop. Print on photo paper, mount on construction-paper backings, hang in a row. Reads as 'we noticed' rather than 'we forgot to update the frame'.
- 05 for invites
A rounded-square photo for a save-the-date
Square-with-rounded-corners is the modern app-icon shape. Cropping a save-the-date photo to that shape pulls the design forward — feels like a tile in an app, not a stock-photo background. Print on glossy cardstock for a feed-ready feel.
- 06 for stickers
Diamond-cropped photos for a sticker sheet
Print-and-cut sticker sheets work best with consistent shapes — diamonds tile cleanly. Drop nine photos through Diamond mode with the same paper-cream background, lay them out in a 3×3, print, hand-cut. Perfect for a sticker swap or a book-cover decoration.
Frequently asked
Does the photo upload anywhere? +
No. The crop is rendered to a canvas in your browser. Your photo never touches our servers — we don't run an image pipeline at all.
How do I get a circle PNG with transparent background? +
Pick the Circle shape and the Transparent background. The export becomes a PNG with the background outside the circle as full alpha — perfect for layering onto a different design.
How do I move the photo within the shape? +
Click and drag on the canvas to reposition. The shape stays fixed; the photo slides underneath. Combine with the zoom slider to fine-tune which part of the photo fills the shape.
Why is the output square? +
All shapes here are designed to fit a square canvas — circles, hearts, stars all sit naturally inside one. For non-square aspect ratios, run the result through the Crop & Resize tool afterward to letterbox into Story 9:16, Pinterest 2:3, etc.
What's the difference between thin and double frame? +
Thin draws a single outline along the shape edge in your chosen color. Double draws two lines — outer edge plus a slightly inset inner ring — for a more decorative, vintage-portrait feel. None means just the photo with no border.
My heart looks weird at the bottom — why? +
Heart shapes are tall — the point sits low. To compensate, we shift the heart slightly upward, so the bottom point isn't cropped by the canvas. Drag the photo down to compensate further if a face is sitting in the heart's point and you want it higher.
